by Daisy Baker
Hardcover, 1974, St Martin's Press, 160 pages
What a book. She was 76 years old. She lived in rural Devon, England in the 1970s. And she decided that the way to get around was by donkey cart. This book is partly about donkeys, partly about driving, partly about living in the country, partly a memoir of this woman's life. It's mainly about the magic that an animal can bring to a person so that they forget how old they are, and the freedom that a little cart can give on the country lanes, so your mind can wander. Much better than any self-help book or a psychiatrist--just get a donkey! PS She has adventures! The dust jacket is in quite used condition, there's a sticker inside front, but the book is in super shape. You won't mind. $5 plus post.
Last of the Donkey Pilgrims: A Man's Journey Through Ireland
by Kevin O'Hara
Softcover, large format, 2004, Forge Books
Right, like you never thought of it. I know I have. The trip home to Ireland to see the country of your family's origin could only best be experienced in the company of a donkey, and traveling not by car but by cart. It's great. Really. New condition but corner is bumped. $8 plus post.
